Sean is currently a senior trainee analyst with the Irish Forum of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and is based in Leeson Analytic Centre. Sean has submitted thesis work on the effects of shame among victims of childhood abuse and has a particular interest in how early childhood neglect and trauma come to influence and shape our adult experience. Sean has also investigated drug use and drug addiction within society and as a subjective human experience at masters level, and continues to explore the function of drug addiction as a mechanism to avoid pain and as a substitute for meaningful human relationships across the adult and adolescent lifespan.

Other areas of interest include the experience of loneliness and social isolation and the difficulties experienced by many adults in attempting to situate themselves meaningfully into the greater social fabric.
